About Fort Walton Beach

In 1972, TROY began serving the Fort Walton Beach area at Hurlburt Field, to help fill the Armed Forces’ continuing need for education of its service members. To meet a growing demand for local access to higher education, TROY began offering classes in their current downtown location on south Beal Parkway. In 1989, the Troy University Foundation purchased and renovated the building for the purpose of classroom and academic office space. The building remains the only University-owned building outside the state of Alabama and is the flagship of TROY’s Global Campus. With nearly 40 years of service in Okaloosa, Santa Rosa, and Walton counties, TROY – Fort Walton Beach continues to be your local university.
