Credit Load

What is the difference between full time status for financial aid and academic credit hour load limits?

Academic credit load is the number of classes that you are allowed to take per term; whereas, financial aid is awarded based on whether a student is enrolled as a part-time or full-time student.

Academic Credit Hour Load Limits

Graduate:

Maximum Number of Hours: 6 hours per Term

Unconditionally admitted students, with written approval from their faculty adviser, may request permission for an overload, although it is not recommended under the term system.

Undergraduate:
StatusMinimumMaximum
Full Time6 hours per term10 hours per term

Unconditional admitted students with a minimum of 3.5 GPA, with written approval from their academic adviser, and signature of department chair may request permission for an overload.

Financial Aid Credit Hour Load Limits

COURSE LOAD: You must enroll full time each term in order to receive maximum financial aid. You must be enrolled at least half time to receive a loan. Neither Six Month Contact Learning courses, CE courses, nor transient courses are eligible to receive federal assistance. If you drop hours, your financial aid (scholarships, loans, etc.) may be reduced, cancelled, or require repayment.

Class attendance is required to receive any type of financial aid. Students reported for non-attendance by faculty will have their aid reduced or cancelled.
